A mat is usually a flat piece of material placed over another object and generally serves a variety of purposes. Generally, they are used to provide a flat, even protective surface. As a result, they are available in a variety of styles, materials, and colors. They come in the form of placemats, welcome pads, mouse pads, bathmats, kitchen floor covers, and even garage floor protectors. You’ll most often see that a larger mat is used to protect floors. Those found in offices are put under chairs and desks in order to protect the carpeting or hardwood floors. And those found in garages can protect a garage floor from foot traffic and stains. One of the great parts about these types of products is that they often serve the dual purpose of protecting floors from damage and providing a safe, non-slick surface, reducing the chance of accidents and injury. As a result, they usually show up in places with a high likelihood of slick floors, such as kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and warehouses. You can also find a mat specifically designed for weight training and exercises like aerobics and yoga. These thicker versions can absorb the shock of running, walking, jumping, or jogging in place.
