Rubber Roofing

Rubber roofing is a great option for flat roofs, gutters and gutter repair, and balconies. This type of roofing is also known as membrane roofing. Membrane roofing can come in different types, including synthetic rubber and a thermoplastic membrane.

Flat roofs and traditional tar roofs can leak, so you can count on rubber as a helpful replacement option. This material is especially good for flat roofs. Shingles work in conjunction with gravity to keep your roof dry, but flat roofs are not sloped enough for shingles. In those cases, rubber membranes can be a good choice. It’s durable and boasts an impressive lifespan. Some warranties can be as long as twenty-years.

Rubber roof covering can also eliminate seams, which can reduce leaks and cracks in your roof. Some membranes come in large sheets, up to fifty feet wide, and can be placed over the roof in a single, unbroken sheet. Another advantage or this type of covering is how easy it is to patch leaks. A leak is much easier to locate in a rubber membrane than in a traditional asphalt or gravel system. Rubber roof materials are also resistant to UV radiation, so it does not degrade like asphalt or gravel systems. The membrane can expand and contract with the weather, which also eliminates the possibility of cracks or leaks.
